AE Direct Mail was named as winner of the final Kickstart competition run by MSIF and the Liverpool ECHO.
The Aintree-based direct mail company which is run by husband and wife team Andrew and Elise Evers scooped the £10k cash prize and beat off stiff competition from over 40 other entrants.
Runners up were named as steel fabrication company Fabs 4 and The Junior Chefs’ Academy – a business which delivers healthy cookery workshops to primary school children.
An Outstanding Achievement award was presented to Senator Communications who battled to save the company back in 2006. Through sheer hard work and determination the company has since delivered incredible results by winning over £1m in new business and completely changing the company’s fortunes.
Dolphin Music were presented with an award for Best Performing Business. The company was set up by school friends Rob Williams and Jason Tavaria when they were students at Liverpool University. They used their student loans to start the business which has since grown to a £9.2m turnover and employs 62 staff.
The Kickstart competition was started in 2003 – the year Liverpool was announced it had won the title of European Capital of Culture in 2008. The competition aimed to create 2,008 jobs by 2008 and has smashed its target by creating 2,685 new jobs.
