Liverpool Business Sets off for Cannes Film Festival Following Prestigious UK Film Council Contract Win

12th May 2009

Liverpool-based event management company Eventa Management has been chosen to manage the UK Film Council’s presence at the Cannes International Film Festival. It is the sixth time Eventa has won the prestigious contract.

The festival, which runs for 11 days from 13th– 24th May, is one of the most renowned events in the film industry’s calendar with over 200,000 people attending, including Hollywood A-listers and leading filmmakers.

The UK Film Centre at 3,000sqft is the second largest pavilion at the festival and provides a business centre for international delegates. Eventa will manage over 70 events during the festival, including ministerial visits, seminars, breakfast meetings, screenings and receptions on their behalf.

Eventa is run by Vici Ladeji and has won several national industry awards. The company has run numerous high profile events including the Royal Variety Performance after show party in Liverpool and the John Lennon and Ronnie Wood art exhibitions. Eventa has worked with companies locally, in Europe and as far afield as Canada and New York.

The company recently expanded following funding from Alliance Fund Managers (AFM) through the MSIF Small Firms Fund and since then has branched out into new markets and taken on 2 new staff.

Vici Ladeji said “We are always amazed at how surprised people are to see a Liverpool company organising such a huge international event in Cannes. We are very proud of the fact that we are from Liverpool, the creative talent in the city is amazing and we are happy to be part of it.

“Since we started managing the UK Film Centre we have increased the attendance figures so that it now attracts over 14,000 delegates from 83 countries during the 11 days of the festival and is the 2nd busiest pavilion in the International Village.

“To consistently deliver this event year on year in such a competitive market demonstrates that businesses from the North West are more than capable of competing in the international business arena despite the current climate.”

Carol Bolland, investment manager at AFM said: “Vici is extremely talented and very passionate about what she does. She applies an innovative approach to her work and the quality and size of the contracts Eventa has won is testament to her ability. Despite the current climate we believe Eventa will continue to do well and we are pleased to have supported the business.”

Locally Eventa work with many small to medium sized businesses through to PLC companies. The company recently organised a mini-conference and series of seminars for Egerton House who actively promote and support enterprise growth on the Wirral, and helped with the launch of £2.7M newly refurbished Lutyens Crypt at the Metropolitan Cathedral last week.

Eventa is also working with the charity Red Balloon to launch a ‘Buy a Brick’ fundraising campaign and organise a Gala Dinner in aid of James Bulger House, a safe house that is being set up in Liverpool for children who have been the victim of bullying and have fallen out of school as a result.
