Alan Birkett

Alan is an ACIB qualified banker with over 40 years experience gained at Barclays Bank where he looked after all areas of small business banking. His final role at the bank was Head of Small Business Risk for Liverpool, Wirral and Chester , which entailed overseeing 11 small business managers including the sanction of facilities outside their discretion.

After leaving Barclays, Alan worked as a self employed business consultant and had a contract with the Merseyside branch of Business Link. Here he advised numerous SMEs on all aspects of running a business with particular emphasis on finance.

He joined AFM in 2002 and his role includes managing a wide range of transactions but particularly the larger applications of £50k to £150k.

Little known fact: A true blue, Alan's picture hangs proudly outside Goodison Park.
