MSIF Venture Fund - Portfolio Director
Jerry Mobbs

Jerry has vast experience both as a venture capitalist and in business.
He has an MBA from the London Business School and started his career with Unilever before joining a privately owned logistics company where he became operations director. He began his venture capital career at 3i in Sheffield where he worked for three years before becoming a director of Yorkshire Venture Capital.
He subsequently joined Innvotec, the company which ran the first MSIF Venture Fund, as an investment manager, and subsequently became investment director and then a board member.
When Alliance Fund Managers was set up Jerry joined as an investment director before becoming portfolio director with full responsibility for the Venture and Mezzanine investments and heading up the entire portfolio team. Within this role he has recruited and developed a team of professionals and manages a portfolio of over 50 businesses. He also lead the refinancing deal which saw MSIF realise 21 times its initial investment from its first venture into a Liverpool business and whilst simultaneously reinvesting its largest amount to date from its most recent Venture Fund.
In addition Jerry is AFM’s Compliance Officer, ensuring that AFM operates within the rules of the FSA as a regulated business. He has also overseen the development and management of a purchasing consortium which is offered as a benefit under MSIF’s Money with Management to all investee businesses.
Little known fact: Jerry is a member of the St Moritz Tobogganing Club in Switzerland where he rides the world famous Cresta Run, a man-made ice run.
The participants lie on their fronts on a 90lb metal toboggan to ride down the three quarter mile course, reaching speeds of over 60 mph!
